Rubbish Collection:
(August 12th) MORE
Minutes of Parish Council
Meetings (August 12th)
Unfortunately none have
been submitted since March so I am unable to update residents on what
the PC has been up to .....
SDC
has introduced new rubbish collection procedures, more details
can
be seen
here. Unfortunately the council does not
yet have sufficient bins to deliver to our village so we have been
instructed to continue using black bags and black boxes until such time
as the new wheelie bins are delivered. Accordingly;
Blue Square
days are the days when black bags, green wheelie bins and black
recycling boxes should be left out and
Grey Square
days are the days when
black bags are left out.
As in most things in life
not all things go smoothly and the green bins were not emptied as they
should have been on Friday 8th. As a result a number of residents
thought it apposite to leave these bins out over the weekend - blocking
footpaths and pavements - perhaps NOT the most considerate idea.
I have been in contact
with SDC and can confirm that any green bins left out will be emptied on
Tuesday August 13th .....

Keeping Priors Marston
Tidy
Our more observant
residents may well have noticed that over the Christmas and New
Year period that the rubbish has not been collected on the
normal Mondays.
The local
authority had taken the trouble to notify residents that
collection would be disrupted by printing revised collection
dates on the black refuse bags. The less observant
residents obviously missed this fact, hence the unsightly
appearance of refuse being put out a day early.
Rubbish will be
collected on Tuesday January 8th, recycling will next take place
on January 15th.
A number of bin
bags have been put out without being tied at the top, as a
result rubbish is being blown around the village. It would
be appreciated if those responsible could perhaps rectify this -
after all, litter does NOT pick itself up.
Drinkers are
requested to make use of the many rubbish bins situated around
the village rather than just throwing their empty bottles in the
verges of our village. |

I have
been asked to inform you that a memorial fund will be on-line
soon to collect donations for the families of the Firefighters
who tragically lost their lives at the Atherstone on Stour fire.
This will be available for on-line payments shortly (click
here) and we will provide a link for you to
include from your website if you have one or which local people
can access. If colleagues are aware of anyone thinking of
establishing any other appeal fund it would be appreciated if
they made them aware of the fund being set up by Warwickshire
Fire and Rescue Service and ask people to give to this. This
will ensure continuity of approach and also how funds are
distributed to the families involved.
Many Thanks

Dave Pegg (Fairport
Convention’s bassist since 1969, Jethro Tull’s from 1979-1995)
and PJ Wright (the guitar, vocals of Little Johnny England,
Steve Gibbons Band 1980-99) met while recording the first Dylan
Project album and quickly recognised their shared musical tastes
and influences. Fairport’s Winter Tour 2006, when PJ was the
opening solo turn, saw the pair coming up with an evening of
eclectic roots music peppered with amusing tales and anecdotes
drawn from a combined seventy seven glorious years (?) as
professional musicians. |
The Village Fete
There was
torrential rain at Byfield and Hellidon and it even rained at
North Farm but The Hermitage was bathed in sunshine on the
afternoon of Saturday 16th June!
A very warm
welcome was given to Ken and Joy Phillips, who travelled down
from Yorkshire to open the Fête and they had a chance to see
lots of their friends from Priors Marston and beyond. Ken was
Priest in Charge of these three parishes - Priors Hardwick,
Wormleighton and Priors Marston - from 1985 until 2002. It was
good to hear The Towcester Studio Band playing throughout the
afternoon again and this year the children from Priors School
performed a delightful Maypole dance. The ponies looked so
smart and worked hard giving lots of the youngsters a great
time!
A huge ‘thank
you’ goes to all the stall holders and everyone who ran a game,
everyone who helped set up the stalls on Friday evening and
Saturday morning and to those stalwarts who helped clear it all
away afterwards!
The total sum
raised is in excess of £4,000 – a wonderful sum - an increase of
more than £650 on last year's record. Thank you to everyone who
supported the Fête in any way and a very special thank you to
David and Jenny Holmes for once again hosting the Fête in their
lovely gardens at The Hermitage.

Our Carbon Footprint
Have you ever considered the
impact that your driving might have upon the environment?
Have you ever questioned the need to use the car rather than
walk?
-
If you find need to drive
your child to, or from, school rather than walk the short
distance why not team up with a neighbour, after all, surely
one car is better than two.
-
Did you know that driving
within speed limits is a greener way to drive than not doing
so? Drive slower - use less fuel, drive slower - less
need to brake - less wear and tear on your car, save money
and help save the planet.
Have you ever wondered if
there are savings that could be made in using Tesco's Home
Shopping services a really good point was raised the other week
by our news gatherer?
